ALTER, European Journal of Disability Research

In 2007, the IFRH participated to the launching of ALTER, European Journal of Disability Research, in partnership with the Alter association, « Société internationale pour l’histoire des infirmités, déficiences, inadaptations, handicaps », learned society on the history of alterities. ALTER is a quarterly Journal on Social Sciences and Humanities, with an Editorial Board; its scopes are European views on disabilities and alterities published in two languages (French/English) ; the Publisher is Elsevier-Masson.The Journal is a scientific, cross-disciplinary and European journal, indexed in Scopus and Science Direct.
The IFRH is the institutional partner of the Journal. It guarantees academic visibility, and a financial and logistic help as well, in particular during the first years of the launching. The IFRH is the Journal Headquarters, the Editorial Office is Françoise Marchand's job; the IFRH also warrants the good performance of the Editorial Board.
The Journal is already in its fourth year (Volume 4, n°1). It can be consulted on BiblioInserm. Archives are available on the Elsevier's Website (http://www.em-consulte.com/revue/alter). Beside the number of traditional subscribtions, the amount of international downloadings is constantly increasing.
Forthcoming events
In the aftermath of the First Alter seminar held on July 5, 2010, around the theme "Is disability market-soluble ?", it is decided that Monday July 4, 2011 will offer the continuation of the discusssions engages around this theme.
